A 51-year-old final year law student appeared in court yesterday charged with indecently assaulting a woman whom he claimed he could heal through witchcraft and sorcery.
The Lautoka Magistrates Court was told that the woman had paid businessman Mohammed Sharif $750 last month to restore her health by using his powers as a “witch doctor”.
He allegedly fondled her breasts after pouring hot oil over her body.
The Nadi man appeared before Magistrate Bandula Gunarathne charged with two counts of witchcraft and sorcery and one count of indecent assault.
Mr Sharif was granted $1000 bail after he produced two sureties and surrendered his travel documents. The case will be called again on June 5 for mention.
