Growth projection

THERE is nothing but positive projections for Fiji’s growth in the years ahead.

This was the message from the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama to all Fijians as many herald in the New Year.

Mr Bainimarama said while Fiji had accomplished many things in the global arena, it had also achieved unprecedented success at home.

“The Fijian economy has soared to its eighth straight year of economic growth thanks to the winning recipe of consistent economic policies, bold and modern ideas, sound fiscal management, investment in infrastructure and the effort and energy of ordinary Fijians,” he said.

Mr Bainimarama said it was important for Fijians to stick to the same game plan this year and beyond.

He said Government would continue its responsibility in finding innovative ways to ensure that every Fijian shares in developments and in economic growth from all walks of life.

“We will continue to make merit based achievement the foundation of our development.

“And we will continue the program and initiatives that are the cornerstone of my Government’s agenda,” he said.

“Free education, new and resilient infrastructures, access to clean water, electricity telecommunications and Government services, support our entrepreneurs and special efforts to bring those on the margin into the economic fold.”

He said the good all Fijians had achieved throughout the year had been encouraging as Fijians stood united in our vision for a better nation.

“We have shown our love for the country in our concern and respect for each other,” he said.

“As united fellow Fijians, we have shown there is nothing we cannot overcome.”
