ATHENS – Greek self-proclaimed anarchists threw red paint at the facade of the foreign ministry in Athens and flyers on the streets outside the nearby parliament on Sunday, police said.

About 10 people were involved in the evening incident, a police official said. There were no injuries. One person had been detained.

In a statement published on the Internet, the Rouvikonas group said the attack was linked to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Small-scale attacks on businesses, state buildings, police and politicians are frequent in Greece.

Rouvikonas, which emerged during the country’s worst financial crisis in decades that broke out in 2009, has staged several such attacks against politicians, businesses and government buildings in recent years.
