A MAN convicted of raping his granddaughter aged nine years in February 2016 at the Muslim League settlement in Nabua was today sentenced to 11 years and 10 months imprisonment.
The accused appeared before High Court judge Justice Riyaz Hamza in the High Court in Suva and was charged with two counts of rape.
Justice Hamza said that such act is unacceptable and it seems to be very prevalent in Fiji.
The man will be eligible for parole after serving 9 years and 10 months behind bars.
