Good turnout in annual ladies golf event

THE Fiji Golf Club ladies had a good turnout in their competition sponsored by Westpac Bank at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa on Tuesday.

This event, a stroke event with the winner walking away with the best nett score and the Val Townsend Memorial trophy.

According to the Fiji Golf Club ladies captain Susie Yee, this trophy was first presented by Westpac in 1959 in memory of Val Townsend.

“With some of the winners of the trophy being Anna Dunn, Dr Sereima Bale, Sylvia Joe and Gye Oh Ohk have shown a great support for women participation,” she said.

“Eun Hee Kim is the defending champion has been the most outstanding in all the competition.”

A total of 36 participants took part in the one-day tournament.

“We were grateful that the weather was good to us but we were grateful that a huge turnout from our mothers in the competition that boosted the tournament. We are grateful to Westpac for their never ending support and we are calling out on our women to come and take part,” she said
