Golfers to battle

THE Fiji Golf Club will be hosting the 113th Fiji Golf Club Open 2014 tournament this weekend.
The two-day stroke event over 36 holes for both men and ladies is supported by Vision Motors Limited and Grid Security Services Limited and starts on Friday.
Club manager Nigel Goundan said the Fiji Golf Club Open had always been an event looked forward to by golfers throughout the country.
He said it had the support from all clubs around the country which added flavour to the success of the event.
“The course is looking good and we are working harder every day to give golfers better greens to play on,” Goundan said.
“Vision Motors is the supporter of golf and we welcome them on board for their sponsorship for this event.
“Grid Security Services who are providing security services to a lot of the major companies in Fiji have also come on board to support this event.”
Top amateur golfer Olaf Allen Jr is a director of Grid Security Services Limited is the defending champion.
Goundan said there would be a stiff competition between the leading golfers in the country.
“There will be competition from Sam Lee who has got two titles out of two opens played under his belt, the Nadi Open and Ba Open, Anuresh Chandra who recently won the Vatukoula Open, Roneel Prakash who was the runners-up at Vatukoula Open, Abid Hussein, Fiji Golf Clubs VK Singh, Isei Waqa, David Oakley and Eric Nand,” he said.
Entry fee is $70 which includes two days of golf, T-shirt, lunch for both days and cocktail party prize giving on Saturday.
Tee off will be at 8am on both days with first day play according to the draw and day two will see a seeded draw.
