Golfers set to battle

A tough battle is expected during the Vinod Patel sponsored Ba Classic at the Rarawai Golf Course today.

Top golfers from the host club, Nadi, Lautoka and Vatukoula have registered for the 18 holes stroke event.

Former Nadi Open champion and Fiji junior rep Barroon Hussain from Nadi will lead the charge for the overall gross title.

He will face stiff competition from veterans James Krishna and Rajen Singh.

Inform members of the Ba Golf Club, Mohammed Sheik Sharif and Ashish Chand are likely to battle for top honours in the A Grade.

In the B Grade, Doctor Vimal Murthi of Lautoka will be a threat to the home town boys of Aman Mani and Jyoti Lal.

The C Grade is expected to be wide open with many new golfers trying to prove their worth.

The tournament co-ordinator Sanjay Krishna said the sponsors had provided a great platform for the western golfers to bond and enjoy the day as the season heats up.”

He said this tournament would serve as an ideal hit out for the T&M Custom Cabinets & Store Fixtures Limited monthly medal competition and the Tiffany’s Western Open Championship coming up.

Today’s tournament tees off at 9am.
