THE national golf team failed to find its form finishing on 52nd position at the World Amateur Team Championship in Japan.
The side with Sam Lee, Abid Hussain and Olaf Frank Grant Allen scored a total of 596 finishing 62 strokes behind winner US.
Lee was Fiji’s best finisher carding 11 over par 297. His scores were 71, 77, 76 and 73 over four days.
Allen scored 20 over par 306. His scores were 72, 78, 77 and 79.
Hussain carded 29 over par 315. He scored 81, 80, 81 and 73.
Fiji had set a goal of finishing in the top 30 and was on the right track after the first day.
However poor form struck the side after that which saw them drop down the leader board.
Hussain’s final day score was only counted in the team total. Lee’s score were counted on all four days while Allen’s first three day’s scores were totalled.
Lee finished tied for 132 position in the individual category. Allen was tied for 153 while Hussain was tied for 170.
Jon Rahm of Spain won the individual category scoring 23 under par 263.
Fiji also finished on 52nd position at the 2012 championship in Turkey.
