Golf tournament to rake in millions

MORE than 250 overseas golfers will compete at this year’s Sheraton Golf Classic four-day tournament which is expected to generate more than millions of dollars to the country.

The annual event will have participants from Australia, New Zealand, USA, Singapore and other parts of the world to battle against the local golfers.

Tournament coordinator Richard Ellis a total of $150,000 prizemoney has been set out for the winners – with the professional champion to receive around $20,000.

He said tournament would also expose local golfers to gauge their standard against the best from the region.

Participants will play for two days at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Course and another two days at the Natadola Bay.

The competitions starts on Wednesday.
