AN eight-year-old girl is the latest road victim after she died of injuries she sustained when a car hit her along the Queens highway in Vatukarasa, Sigatoka.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the victim was walking along the highway with an 18-year-old when they were hit by an oncoming vehicle last month.
She said the second victim was discharged from the hospital on Saturday.
The girl died at the Lautoka Hospital yesterday.
“Investigations continue and the suspect in his 60s will be brought in for questioning once the autopsy is completed,” she said.
“The road death toll currently stands at 47 compared with 44 for the same period last year.”
