Gamel’s team plan

VODAFONE Fiji football coach Christophe Gamel wants the districts to work with him to take Fiji football to greater heights in the future.

Gamel said players also needed to contribute a lot towards the success of the team.

“The players arrive in camp overweight and I have to restart the process from zero.

“I need to talk to the districts as we need to be on the same page to improve the level of Fijian football,” he said.

The national football side lost to Philippines 3-2 in an international friendly match on Thursday night.

“The players did a good job defensively and the plan was clearly respected from the beginning and I wanted the scores to be nil-all,” Gamel said.

“It was a bit of a disappointment with the first goal conceded in the first 20 minutes of the match which was very fast, the players were bit under pressure though it is normal because of the fast-paced football.

“We defended well and some silly mistakes put us down to 3-nil and there was good reaction from the players where they tried to come back.”

The side played Kaya FC last night.
