Full support

NOW we have two Northern soccer teams in the Super Premier League. The onus is now on Dreketi to survive and stay up.

It’s high time the established business powerhouses of Vanua Levu threw their full support behind their teams.

It’s even more important to have a top-class facility somewhere in Labasa where international footy can be played.

Believe me, it’s easiest now to build a stadium (grant-funded) while the country is still riding high on the rollercoaster called “development”.

A good road, anticipated booming economy, an international airport and a brilliant sports arena, and we will suddenly need more hotels.

Come on Northerners, cry out loud for it. Once you have the proper grounds and stands, even Skipper Cup will become more appealing to you rather than being a competition destined for loss.

The bazaars at Subrail Park are doing you no good apart from the good goat sales and week-long festivities.

You must also demand for a better stadium with rubber tracks to train your athletes properly.

Savusavu, Seaqaqa and Bua can also become competitive with the above in place.

Dreketi may well become another one-season-wonder with the current lack of everything.
