FIJIANS will now have to fork out extra money to spend on fuel and liquefied petroleum gas after the latest review by the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC).

In a statement yesterday, FCCC said the increase was mainly determined by the movement in the international prices for petroleum and LPG products since the last quarter.

FCCC said the changes in prices for both petroleum and LPG products were further impacted by unfavourable international freight rates and the strengthening of the US dollar.

The commission also said Fiji was directly affected by the world market prices for both refined oils and LPG meaning that any changes to the world market prices would be reflected in fuel and LPG prices in Fiji.

The increase on these products will come into effect tomorrow. FCCC will conduct the next fuel and LPG price review on October 15.
