GOVERNMENT’S civil service reforms in the education sector have come under scrutiny again.

The Fiji Trades Union Congress has hit out at the Education Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, on the issuance of a circular to teachers claiming that the trade union movements in the country have been initiating a misinformation campaign for teachers.

FTUC general secretary Felix Anthony said the minister’s attack against trade unionists was unwarranted.

Fiji Teachers Union general secretary Agni Deo Singh claimed they were preparing a comprehensive response to the “lies” issued by Mr Sayed-Khaiyum in the circular.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said instead of trade unions choosing to adapt to the reforms, they chose to dig in their heels and resist change.
