FRU receives Bulls complaint against Lautoka

THE Fiji Rugby Union has received the protest lodged by the Handy Finance Naitasiri Northern Bulls.

Northern Bulls lodged a protest after the side was beaten 10-22 by Lautoka in the TFL-sponsored promotion-relegation game last Saturday.

FRU senior operations officer Aseri Tabuawaiwai yesterday confirmed to Times Sport that the Bulls officials had lodged the protest letter before the deadline on Monday 4pm.

He said both parties would have to wait for the judicial hearing.

“I can confirm the FRU has received the protest letter from the Bulls management,” said Tabuawaiwai.

“We will be waiting for the judicial hearing and before the ruling is made.

“We cannot ascertain any details for now until the final ruling is made.”

Bulls operations manager Kasiano Vusonilawe claimed some players that featured on Saturday were not registered under the Lautoka Rugby Union.

He said two players also featured for the Saru Dragons during the FNRL Vodafone Cup competition.

“We are just working in accordance to the rules of the game,” said Vusonilawe.

“We are still continuing with our verification process to get the evidence on our claims.”

Lautoka rugby assistant coach Kitione Ratudradra said they had the liberty to lodge the protest.

“If they have the evidence then they should show us because we also have evidence of all players that played on Saturday were registered under their various clubs affiliated to Lautoka Rugby and under FRU,” he said.
