SYDNEY – French President Emmanuel Macron will touch down in Sydney early this evening for talks with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, focused on trade and security.
President Macron, who is travelling without his wife, is expected to have dinner with PM Turnbull at the Opera House. He will also use his visit to talk up French gastronomy, visit an art gallery and meet Aboriginal artists.
It comes just a week after the PM visited France for Anzac Day, to commemorate the centenary of the Battle of Villers-Bretonneux and open the $100 million Australian-funded Sir John Monash Centre at the Australian memorial.
“France is one of our oldest and closest friends,” Turnbull said ahead of the visit.
Macron will pay his respects to Australia’s war dead ahead of a bilateral meeting with Turnbull. NINE NEWS
