ADI Moapa Secondary School will be represented by four athletes in this week’s Coca-Cola Maritime Zones.
The Vanuabalavu-based school from Lau which won the boys title last year is expected to face stiff competition from Yasawa High School, Cicia High School, Ratu Finau College, Koro High School and Gau Secondary School this year.
Adi Moapa official Vuniani Vasu said the four athletes prepared well for the competition and would be out to stamp their mark this season.
He said the lack of preparation time would not deter the athletes from giving their best.
“We brought nine athletes last year and we did well to win the boys’ title,” said Vasu.
“We have reduced the numbers this year with two to feature in the field events and two on the tracks.
“We had a few issues with the weather which affected our preparation but this will not stop the athletes from giving their best.”
Vasu thanked Mago Hotel and the Kaibu Resort for sponsoring the team’s campaign this year.
He said the boys had been training at the ANZ national stadium for two weeks and were confident of winning a few gold medals for the school.
