PORT VILA, 21 JUNE 2018 (VANUATU DAILY POST) – Vanuatu Electoral Commission has confirmed that the seat of the former Deputy Prime Minister in Parliament is vacant.

The Commission cannot proceed to arrange for a by-election for the vacant seat until the outcome of the Supreme Court ruling on the appeal by the former Deputy Prime Minister and Member of Parliament, Joe Natuman.

Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Martin Tete, reiterated the court ruling and the outcome will determine whether there should be a by-election or not.

The Supreme Court is expected to deliver its verdict on the appeal next month.
