Former Police trio convicted of indecent assault and conspiracy

THREE former police officers convicted of charges related to indecent assault and conspiracy to defeat justice and interference with witnesses will be sentenced on September 5.

Former Police Constable Ramendra Prasad is charged with indecent assault.

Former Police Sergeant Mosese Qiolele along with former Police Constable Josephine Singh is charged with conspiracy to defeat justice and interference with witnesses.

Prasad has been convicted of indecently assaulting a female police officer on February 2, 2014, in Nausori.

Qiolele has been convicted of attempting to obstruct the course of justice by offering $5000 to the victim to withdraw her case, while Singh is being convicted for attempting to obstruct justice by having the victim sign a withdrawal statement.

All three were convicted after a trial before Magistrate Vandhana Lal in the Nausori Magistrates Court.
