Former Fiji Public Trustee staff pleads guilty to 11 counts of corruption

A FORMER Estate Officer for Fiji Public Trustee Corporation Limited appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court this morning on corruption-related charges.

Melaia Senimolau is charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) with 13 counts of obtaining a financial advantage.

It is alleged Ms Senimolau falsified the Fiji Public Trustee Corporation Limited receipts on 13 different occasions and obtained $15,116.90 between March 2015 and January 2017.

After pleading guilty to 11 counts of obtaining a financial advantage, Ms Senimolau informed Magistrate Asanga Bodaragama that for the 12th count laid by FICAC, she was also charged the same by Police.

Magistrate Bodaragama has given her a month time to write to FICAC regarding the same.

Ms Seninolau’s bail has been extended and the matter has been adjourned to October 22 to confirm the charges.
