FLOTSAM AND JETSAM

BEACHCOMBER heard this story from a friend who visited a village on Vanua Levu known for its residents engaging in very unusual acts influenced by tidal movement.

As the sun began to set, he saw a group of men travelling on horseback.

They appeared strained from carrying the huge weight while trying to keep their balance.

Friend: “Why are they carrying the tavioka on their shoulders?”

Villager: “So that the horse doesn’t get tired.”

Only in Fiji!
