MANY communities in the Western Division were awakened yesterday to floodwaters that tore through their homes in the early hours of the morning.

While some did not expect the deluge, many were shocked by the extent of the damage.

Some chose to evacuate their homes while others had no choice but to remain behind and protect their belongings.

By midday yesterday, floodwaters had receded, leaving behind mud and debris lining the roads and the inside of homes that were under water.
