FIVE volunteers under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) volunteer program are expected to arrive soon in the country.

JICA volunteer section program officer , Sarojini Lal said the volunteers were expected to arrive in June and be based in the education sector.

“Another three volunteers are expected to arrive in September  and  will be based  in the  physical therapy, nutrition and primary education sectors,” Ms Lal said.

She said there were no particular restrictions on any fields when volunteers were chosen to come to Fiji.

The program was introduced to Fiji in 1982 and since then,  approximately  544 Japan overseas cooperation volunteers (JOCV’s)  and  146 senior volunteers (SV’s)   have worked in Fiji.
