FIVE volunteers under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) volunteer program are expected to arrive soon in the country.
JICA volunteer section program officer , Sarojini Lal said the volunteers were expected to arrive in June and be based in the education sector.
“Another three volunteers are expected to arrive in September and will be based in the physical therapy, nutrition and primary education sectors,” Ms Lal said.
She said there were no particular restrictions on any fields when volunteers were chosen to come to Fiji.
The program was introduced to Fiji in 1982 and since then, approximately 544 Japan overseas cooperation volunteers (JOCV’s) and 146 senior volunteers (SV’s) have worked in Fiji.
