First education stakeholders meeting opened

THE first inaugural Education Stakeholders Meeting was held at the Novotel Hotel in Lami earlier today.

The meeting was attended by more than 50 stakeholders from government, teacher training institutions, development partners, civil society organisations and faith based organisations,

Speaking at the event, Australian High Commissioner to Fiji , John Feakes said the new program would focus on improving students’ learning environments.

“It will also strengthen literacy and numeracy in primary education, harnessing inclusive education, supporting teachers’ work and professional development and increasing parent and community engagement in schools,” Mr Feakes said.

The meeting provided an opportunity for participants an overview of the new program and key elements of the first year workplan.
