FIJIAN President Major-General Jioji Konrote says the potential within the Fijian economy is yet to be realised and can only be harnessed through collaborated efforts, new innovative approaches and building more resilience.
In his officia address at the 46th Fiji Institute of Accountants (FIA) annual congress that began yesterday at the Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa on Yanuca Island, Sigatoka, Mr Konrote urged accountants, local entrepreneurs and those representing the various sectors at the congress to pursue excellence in transforming Fiji into a forward-thinking nation.
He, however, said this excellence must be based on good governance and sound developmental policies that embraced inclusivity, green growth, and sustainable development.
“Seeing that Fiji’s National Development Plan shares critical cross-cutting issues such as climate change, green growth, the environment, gender equality, disability and governance, we need to be asking ourselves a few critical questions not only as individuals but also as organisations,”he said.
