FIJI boxing rising star Siliveni Nawai will get the golden opportunity of his life when he faces New Zealander Beau O’Brien in the World Boxing Federation title contest next month.
Nawai who defeated Ulaiasi Qalomai on TKO over the weekend holds a clean record of 11 wins out of 11 fights and eight of his wins were by way of knock-outs.
WBF president Mick Croucher said the title contest would boost the development of the sport in Fiji.
He said the much-anticipated bouts would also be a good chance for Nawai to improve his ranking and to be recognised the world over.
The fight will also be the first title contest to be staged in Fiji after the formation of the new Boxing Commission of Fiji under the chairmanship of Sara Matai Bulutani.
The program will be promoted by Canada Fiji Southern Boxing Promotion at Nadi’s Prince Charles Park on June 23.
