FIJI’S import bill was recorded at $386.6million for the month of February this year alone.
This against a lower export earnings of $161.0m recorded for the same month.
This was highlighted by the Fiji Bureau of Statistics in its recent release of the international merchandise trade statistics for that month alone.
Provisional data provided by the bureau showed that compared with February last year, total imports and total exports increased by $33.7m and $40.2m, respectively.
The February 2018 trade deficit amounted to $225.6m compared with $312.4m a month earlier.
