Nai Lalakai trial: PS has served four governments

THE PERMANENT secretary of  the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs, Naipote Katonitabua has served as a civil servant in four Fijian Governments.

This was highlighted in the Fiji Times sedition trial currently underway at the High Court in Suva.

Mr Katonitabua while being cross examined by defence lawyer Wylie Clarke said he has worked for the civil service for 22 years having first joined under the Sitiveni Rabuka led SVT government.

He confirmed that he also worked as a public servant under the Labour government led by Mahendra Chaudhry and in Laisenia Qarase’s SDL government.

Mr Katonitabua who is the first prosecution witness said there had been different policies over a range of issues under each different governments.

He added he was concerned about the range of views being expressed by the policies.

The trial continues before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe.
