TWO Fijian referees have been selected to officiate at next week’s NSW All Schools Championship rugby league tournament in Sydney, Australia.

Solomone Vubaya Vateitei and Alanieta Ravialaca will be part of the tournament that begins next Tuesday.

Fiji National Rugby League Referees facilitator Jone Wesele said this was a good opportunity for the local referees to get exposed to international events.

“This has been made possible through the ongoing development program with NSW Referees association, NRL and the FNRL. We have been working together closely to get more opportunities for our local referees,” Wesele said.

“We had two referees from Fiji take part in the event in 2016 but missed out last year, and again two referees are going this year. These are two of the elite referees we have in Fiji and they have been doing well.”

The duo leaves for Australia on Monday, August 6.

The NSW All Schools Championship will be played next Tuesday and Wednesday in Sydney.
