Update: 11:33AM A MODERATE 5.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded South of the Fiji region last night.

The Seismology Unit of the Mineral Resources department in Suva reported that the earthquake occurred at 9.06pm at a depth of 641km.

The seismic activity was registered at 655km South-southwest from Doi Village, Ono-i-Lau; 831km Southwest from Nuku’alofa in Tonga; and 872km South from Suva.

The department said the earthquake did not pose any immediate threat to the region.
