Fiji Principals conference begins

Update: 11:03AM THE Fiji Principals Association began its 121st conference as heads of schools from around the country gathered at the Jai Narayan College in Suva yesterday for the three-day meet.

The theme for the annual conference is Sustainability, Resilience and Employment.

Association President Miriama Naicegucegu said such gatherings were vital because of the many changes occurring within the school system, and this would give heads of schools the opportunity to be well informed of the best workable practices and to motivate one another.

Ministry of Education permanent secretary who is also the PS for the Ministry of Youth and Sports Alison Burchell said excellence in our schools would mean excellence in our universities.

“If we get excellence in our schools that means we get excellence in our universities, in our societies and most importantly in our economy.

“This means we can reduce poverty, we can reduce the pay gap between men and women and we can make sure that there is a very stable safety net for those people who are not as lucky as we are.”
