Fiji Police acknowledges ASEANAPOL

THE Fiji Police Force has thanked ASEANAPOL (Association of South East Asia Nations Chief of Police) affiliated institutions for assisting Fiji Police.

Commissioner of Police Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho particularly noted the assistance rendered for upholding the fundamental principles of enhancing police professionalism, forging stronger regional cooperation in policing, and promoting lasting friendship among police officers of ASEANAPOL-member countries, dialogue partners and observers.

Brig-Gen Qiliho in in Brunei where he led the Fiji delegation to the 38th ASEANAPOL Conference that was held on September 3-5.

He said the Fiji Police Force had been active since their observer status at the ASEANAPOL was granted back in 2016.

In the absence of formal agreements, Brig-Gen Qiliho had visited and held discussions with the hierarchy of the Royal Thai Police, the Royal Malaysia Police and more recently with the Republic of Korea to enhance police cooperation between the respective law enforcement institutions, noting the increased exchange in various sectors of development and trade between Fiji and ASEAN members.

The theme of the conference was ‘Coherent as one facing challenges’, which he said was the best way to fight transnational crime.
