THE 100th-anniversary celebration and the national day for Georgia was commemorated at Albert Park in Suva last night.

Newly-appointed Consul for Georgia in Fiji Himmat Lodhia said the partnership between Fiji and Georgia had grown from strength to strength and there was a tendency to have more cultural exchanges in the future.

Georgian Ambassador to Fiji George Dolidze said Georgia saw Fiji as one of their important partners in the Pacific region, as well as on the global stage.

“Our countries have a similar stance on various issues of international agenda and fruitfully cooperate in different international formats,” Mr Dolidze said.

Also present at the event was the Georgian national rugby 15s team.
