FIJI’S Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa today launched the Fiji’s National Minimum Standards for Institutional Homes document on the care of older persons.

Ms Vuniwaqa said the 78-page publication was the pioneer comprehensive document for Fiji aimed at measuring service improvements for the ministry’s partners in the Aged Care industry.

“I wish to congratulate the collective effort of the National Council of Older Persons (NCOP) and the Inter Agency Forum of Aged Care Service Providers, for their foresight in making this National Minimum Standards for both existing and potential Aged Care facilities in Fiji, a reality,” she said.

Ms Vuniwaqa said at present, the ministry worked in partnership with a total of nine Aged Care facilities in Fiji with a total of 223 residents.
