THE Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) has suspended Navua’s Inoke O’Connor from all levels of football.

Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf said O’Connor was alleged to have physically assaulted a Fiji FA referee in a club game at Rampur College last Sunday.

“We have received the referee’s report in which it states the player punched the referee in the match. We have suspended him from all level and the letter of notification has been sent to Navua Football.”

Yusuf also stressed that they will not tolerate mistreatment of referees at any level.

“Referees are important in the aspect of the game. No matter what happens no player has the right to assault the referee at any cost. We will make sure this is not repeated in future,” he said.

O’Connor will appear before the Board of Control on September 1 for mitigation before a final verdict is made.
