FIFA president lauds Lautoka Football’s victory

FIFA president Gianni Infantino has congratulated Lautoka Football for winning the Vodafone Premier League earlier this year and booking a spot in the OFC Champions League.

In statement to Fij Football Association, Infantino lauded Lautoka FC for their fourth championship title.

“This title is the result of the determination of everyone involved and my congratulations go to the players, the coach, the administration, the entire technical and medical staff as weII as the fans for this great achievement,” Infantino stated.

On behalf of the global football community, he thanked Lautoka F.C. and Fiji Football Association for helping to spread the positive message of football.

Lautoka finished on top of the table with 31 points registering 9 wins, 4 draws and 1 loss after two rounds.

Ba became the second team from Fiji to qualify for the OFC Champions League once again this year after finishing second with 26 points, two points ahead of Nadi who finished third with 24 points.

Suva and Labasa finished with 19 points, however the capital city boys pushed Labasa to fifth place with a better goal difference.

Rewa finished on sixth spot with 13 points while Tavua survived in the premier division with 12 points sending Dreketi down to the senior division
