THE Fijian Elections Office launched its second round of Know Your Election Awareness Drive yesterday.

Electoral Commission chairman Suresh Chandra said the aim of the drive was to equip voters with basic knowledge of the election and how to cast vote.

He said the nationwide drive would begin today and finish once the writ of elections is announced.

Mr Chandra said that ballot papers were a vital component of elections.

“The ballot paper they (voters) hold in their hand will decide the outcome of the 2018 General Election. Every tick, circle or cross on ballot papers during the election is another step towards election democracy,” he said.

“Every voter is important in determining the governance of a country and therefore, we want every individual voter to cast a valid vote.”

Mr Chandra urged all voters to verify their details with the Fijian Elections Office awareness teams if they are being visited.

“If our awareness teams come to the village or your community please update, verify your details with them and you can also find out where your polling venue is or during the pre-poll.”
