THE Fijian Elections Office (FEO) today carried out a mock exercise on the packing of the pre-poll and elections day ballot box of sensitive materials.

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem said they were glad to see that all major political parties attended the exercise held at their warehouse in Laucala Beach.

“We also took this opportunity to also explain to them the security mechanisms that are being used in the packing procedure itself, as well as some security protocols for the books for the ballot box itself,” Mr Saneem said.

He said all party agents had access to the packing facility.

“We have also taken this opportunity to demonstrate to them the packing facility that they have access too.

“The FEO will begin packing of pre-poll materials straight after the ballot paper printing is over and you can look at your media itinerary for your demonstration for sensitive material packing.”
