THE South Pacific Stock Exchange (SPSE) Monthly Stock Trading Report for February 2018 states that the value and volume of share traded for the month was much lower than that recorded a month earlier.
This was after 135,357 shares were traded for $425,832 which was quite low compared with trading results recorded in January 2018 where 659,902 shares were sold for $2,751,220. However, the January figures included a special crossing one-off transaction in VB Holdings Ltd (VBH) where 356,285 shares worth $1,603,283 had been executed. And even without the VBH special crossing the level of trading for January 2018 was still high at $1,147,937 for 303,617 shares as January was considered to be a slow share trading month since it was just the end of the festive seasons.
The year to date figures for February 2018 where 795,259 shares realised $3,177,052 however showed a marked increase against the February 2017 figures where 131,702 shares were sold for $449,811.
The overall market value closed at the highest $1.984 billion after growing at a rate of 2.93 per cent during the month. And the SPSE reported that the total market capitalisation had grown steadily at a rate of 48.14 per cent over the 12-month period ended February 28, 2018. And market heavyweight Amalgamated Telecom Holdings Ltd (ATH) continued to dominate the market in terms of listed securities accounting for 46.16 per cent of the market as at the end of February 2018.
