A 25-YEAR-OLD man alleged to have assaulted his four year old daughter and three year old niece at their Samabula home in Suva last week has been remanded by the Suva Magistrates Court.

The father is charged with two counts of act with intent to cause grievous harm and an additional count of assault for allegedly assaulting his wife.

He will reappear in court next Monday.

Meanwhile, Police earlier confirmed that initial information gathered revealed that the accused allegedly threw a root crop at his niece and slapped her several times. He was alleged to have later assaulted and hit his daughter with an object causing injuries.

The alleged incident was reported at the Samabula Police Station by a close relative who saw visible injuries on the bodies of the young children during a visit to their home last week.
