Family treat for gold medallists

THE Cavuilati family of Verata- Wailevu in Tailevu hosted their sons in a thanksgiving lunch to honour them for winning gold medals in the recent Coca-Cola Games in Suva.

Ratu Amena Cavuilati of Marist Brothers High school won a gold medal in the senior boy’s discus, Ratu Mua a gold medal in the senior boys shot put while Ratu Penaia, the head boy of Ratu Kadavulevu School, was part of the 100 metres senior boys relay team.

Joining the family celebration were RKS’ Roko Toro Bulivakarua who was part of the 400m senior boys relay team and Aporosa Taqiri who won the inter-boys triple and long jump.

The athletes presented their medals to the family which were received by Ratu Kalivati, a former student of RKS in the 1960s and a 100m and 200m champion.

He said the Cavuilati sporting legacy had always been based on hard work and determination.

“After 21 years, we finally won the boys division and for that I am grateful,” he said.

“To have my grandchildren be part of that history is a wonderful achievement for them and for our family.

“This small family gathering is a token of our appreciation and to show them how much they mean to us as a family. “The most important thing that our children need is family support and for that I am grateful to the Almighty God for blessing us.”

RKS won the boys division in the 2018 Coca-Cola Games while Adi Cakobau School retained the girls title.
