F$95.8M profit for national carrier

Update: 6:29PM AIR Pacific Ltd, which owns the Fiji Airways Group, has recorded its highest ever before tax profit of F$95.8million for the year ended December 31, 2017.
The profit is a 13.4 per cent increase from the previous financial year, a statement from the national carrier said.
The company comprises Fiji Airways, its subsidiaries Fiji Link and Pacific Call Comm. Ltd, and includes a 38.75 per cent share of Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa on Denarau Island.
This was announced by the Attorney General and Minister responsible for Civil Aviation, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
The Fiji Airways statement said the group earned F$929m, an increase of $103.7m from the year before and carried 1.6 million passengers compared to 1.4 million for 2016.
This means that profit-share for non-management staff and minimum bonus for management increased by 10 per cent from 2016.
