THE University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Oceania Centre for Arts, Culture and Pacific Studies (OCACPS) opened its doors to a retrospective multimedia exhibition yesterday to commemorate the university’s 50th anniversary.
The exhibition displays about 500 pictures explaining the journey of when the university started to where it was now.
It was hosted by the Faculty of Arts, Law and Education (FALE) in collaboration with the National Archives of Fiji, The Fiji Times and other various sections of the university.
FALE Dean Dr Akanisi Kedrayate said the purpose of the exhibition was to showcase the talent that people in the region had.
“We want to do this because we want to showcase that people in the region have got talent and we are celebrating talents, attributes and the ability that has enriched our lives,” Dr Kedrayate said.
“We want to nurture and we want to say that we have achieved something within these 50 years and we want to be the centre of excellence for culture.”
The exhibition which started on Monday will end on Friday, April 20.
