A NUMBER of events have been planned in August by local charity Walk On Walk Strong (WOWS) Kids Fiji during Child Cancer Awareness month. Viola Lesi, team leader for WOWS Fiji, said they were heartened by the support shown so far.

She also acknowledged the Radisson Blu Resort Fiji “Shave It or Save It” fundraiser this weekend, saying such events were important as they helped raise awareness and boosted support for children with cancer.

“There are only two hospitals that have cancer units and one of them is here in Lautoka and the other in Suva so we’re excited too about that, we’re bringing it down to the West,” she said.

She also said “Shave It or Save It” was their biggest fundraiser.

“It is always big. “It hasn’t really picked up over the last two years and we’re thankful to the Radisson for reviving it again.”

Ms Lesi said a similar event was planned for September 1, where employees from various companies were also expected to participate.
