DRAINAGE engineers visited Lovu settlement in Lautoka yesterday with the Minister for Infrastructure Parveen Kumar to assess the drainage systems for close to 308 households.
Mr Kumar said the recent floods had highlighted the need for better drainage systems in the heavily populated area.
“We have our engineers here from West End Engineers and we have been moving around assessing the behaviour of the water during the recent floods,” he said.
“From what we have seen, we can now have a better understanding of the drainage system needs in this area.
“Our contracted engineers will be responsible for all of the drainage works for the new Lovu subdivision so we needed to ensure that we had the proper plans.”
