THE sixth edition of the Mahen Gopal and Anita Persaud of Canada-sponsored Two Men 18 holes stroke Ambrose event saw the pair of Roneel Prakash and Raymond Singh as winners last weekend. The tournament was at the Lautoka golf links on Saturday.
The duo posted 57 for a five-shot victory over nearest rivals, former Nadi Open champion Bobby Reddy and Asish Kumar who had to settle for second spot on 62.
Past winners James Krishna and Abdul Jalal won third place on 63 with newcomers Arvind Pillay and Vikash taking out the fourth prize on 64 points.
The landing of Eagles were also the order of the day with Roneel Prakash registering two on the first to the sixth holes.
Gaffar Ali landed one of the third hole while James Krishna has his share on the 13th. Meanwhile, Alen Singh and Steven Leger were declared the overall juniors champions on 65.
Vikash Chand nabbed both the nearest to pin awards on the second and ninth holes with Roneel Prakash hitting the longset drive on the third hole.
Singh was impressed with the turnout of golfers vying for top honours as attractive prizes were on offer by the sponsors – Mahen and Anita
“The greens are in the best condition ever and a number of top events has been lined up towards the official season opening on May 26,” Singh said.
