Dreketi through to premier league

DREKETI has been promoted to the Rewa Galaxy Premier League competition next year.

The qualification comes after the side held Nasinu to a nil-all draw in the second leg of the senior league final at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday.

Dreketi’s Ilisoni Ralogaivau was too fast for the Nasinu team as he defended his dribbles in opposition’s territory.

Dreketi missed about four opportunities of clear goals and strong defence kept Nasinu from winning.

Team coach Johan Leewai said his boys played very well.

“We returned from Suva on Monday and everyone marched into camp because we all know how important this match is to us,” Leewai said.

“The boys sacrificed their time away from families and their farms and our victory has all paid off. This win means no wasting of time for us as we have bigger teams and bigger games to prepare for so Dreketi people should be proud of the boys.”

Nasinu team president Jitend Reddy said his team didn’t lose.

“We played very well and this is our second match against Dreketi and in both games we had a draw,” he said.

“We just needed a victory while Dreketi needed a draw so our boys played well.

“Nasinu will remain in the Tier II category and we will continue to strive for the best.”

Dreketi is the second team from the North, apart from Labasa to qualify for the premier league competition.

Meanwhile, Tailevu Naitasiri has been relegated to the senior league after the side finished last on the points standing.
