Dreams

He is a chef on the world renowned Castaway Resort. He loves cooking ,it has always been his lifetime ambition but he also loves cars — and who says you can’t share two dreams.
Meet Shanil Krishna, 23, who features this week with his ride that’s in its early stages of upgrading. Shanil shares his experience and goals about modifying his ride and getting ready for future drag races.
He owns a Toyota Sprinter 1996 model with a factory 5A engine, it may not look like much but it does to him. It’s an automatic front-wheel-drive and there is no engine modification done on it yet.
“It’s a street legal car but I plan to upgrade it very soon with a 4AGE engine which has 165 HP and perfect for daily use as well as track racing. The goal is to use a light weight body for the 4AGE engine and my Sprinter will be perfect combination of power to weight ratio and give me the edge I need for drag racing,” he said.

So far he says he keeps within the speed limit but the car has potential to go up to maximum speed of 180Kmph.
“Ever since I was small I grew up playing car racing video games. I made friends with people who owned sports cars and I’ve always dreamt of owning a modified car. Now I am slowly turning that dream into reality.

“So far I have spent about $2,000 for upgrading works but it will cost heaps more to start the engine upgrades and work is in progress
“It takes a lot of patience and focus. I work on the island most of the time and get very little time with my car. On every holiday break I come back home and work on my ride. I must say it’s a slow process because gathering parts takes a lot time – but I’m confident on completing this project.
“I mean it’s something I love to do
After installing the 20 Valve 4AGE engine, my next upgrading stage will be to change the transmission to manual front wheel drive and do modifications to the exhausts and internal modifications on the engine itself to increase power.
Shanil said his dream car would be the Nissan Skyline GTR.
If you own a car that’s not a flashy as others be humble and show respect. Your time of turning heads will come it just a matter of being patient.
