Dragons to maintain winning run

FORMER Vodafone Cup champion Saru Dragons rugby league team will be out to maintain its unbeaten run in the Lautoka Zone competition today.

The side has won all its six games this season and will face the Mesake Navugona-coached Lautoka Crushers.

Dragons team official Esava Bainivalu said the aim was to maintain their winning run. Saru last won the title in 2014 and majority of the players from that team are playing in the Cook Islands and in Australia.

“We have a new set of young players who have been playing age group competition for years,” said Bainivalu. “They have been impressive in the past six games. We will be up against a tough Crushers outfit.”

Bainivalu said the Dragons under-14, U16, U18, reserve and premier teams have won all their past six games. The winner and runners-up from the Lautoka Zone will qualify for the Vodafone Cup quarter-finals.
