Australian radio DJ Mel Greig has made an emotional apology to the family of a nurse who killed herself days after she answered a prank call to a London hospital treating Prince William’s wife Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge.
Indian-born Jacintha Saldanha, 46, was found dead in December 2012, three days after she answered the call from Greig and fellow DJ Michael Christian, in which they pretended to be the Queen and Prince Charles.
Saldanha put the call through to another nurse who disclosed details of Catherine’s condition during treatment for the acute morning sickness she was suffering in the early stages of pregnancy with son Prince George, making headlines around the world.
A statement after the court ruled Saldanha took her own life.
